Exciting awards ceremony for the Euregional Schools Competition: who will be taking home a prize?

On 14 April, the big day finally arrived: the awards ceremony for the Euregional Schools Competition! The Euregional Schools Competition organised by the Euregio Rhine-Waal took place for the seventh time this year. The theme? Boundless Water! Around 300 German and Dutch school pupils took up the challenge this school year and delved into the subject.

In the autumn, pupils had the opportunity to take part in a workshop day at the Dutch Water Museum in Arnhem. Several workshops were on offer. For example, the pupils worked on a 3D water map of the Netherlands and carried out experiments in the water lab. With these fun and educational workshops, the Dutch Water Museum inspired the pupils to get started on their entries for the competition. It also gave the German and Dutch pupils the chance to get to know one another.

At the Zechenwerkstatt Lohberg in Dinslaken on 14 April, the pupils finally heard from presenter Trixie Hölsgens of the Germany Institute Amsterdam whether their entry had won a prize. Not only the announcement of the winners, but also the presence and speech by Councillor Dr Tagrid Yousef of the City of Dinslaken ensured a successful awards ceremony. The councillor emphasised how important it is to learn from one another and that she is proud that the final is taking place in Dinslaken. She also expressed the hope that the pupils would carry their enthusiasm and motivation for the neighbouring country with them into their future lives. The performance by singer-songwriter Yara Beeks, known among other things from the television programme ‘Talent Unplugged’, was the icing on the cake!
