Field Lab on social counselling

As part of the Interreg Germany-Netherlands TRAM project, a field lab on social counselling took place on 10 July. This was the second time it had been organised and provided social counselling centres with an opportunity to exchange ideas. During the field lab, the current project results on the number of residents from Eastern European countries in the district of Kleve and the geographical distribution of residential accommodation were presented.

Joachim Verhoeven from the victim protection unit of the Kleve district police also reported on the practice of victim protection in Germany and the Netherlands. He presented cross-border aspects and it became clear that empathetic and continuous support for victims is important. The second part of the event focused on addressing migrant workers, both digitally and in person. Szabolcs Sepsi (Fair Mobility), Traian Danciu (Fair Accompaniment of Labour Migration Project, Arbeit und Leben NRW) and Monique Gerrits-Hooijer (Zorg- en Veiligheidshuis Noord-Limburg) reported on their respective experiences and strategies. At the end of the event, the discussion turned to improving the accessibility of advice centres. It became clear that social media provides successful and low-threshold access to the target group.

The TRAM project is currently planning a law clinic in the field of social counselling on 16 October 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic is aimed at counselling centres and migrant workers. Further information will be announced on the TRAM website and in the newsletter.

The project is being carried out as part of the Interreg VI programme Deutschland-Nederland and is co-financed by the European Union, the Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Industrie, Klimaschutz und Energie des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen and the Provincie Gelderland. Partners in the project are the Hochschule Rhein-Waal, Radboud University, Gemeente Apeldoorn und the Euregion Rhine-Waal.
